In the classroom, this course runs over 4 hours. With the blended learning solution, the learner is able to undertake individual study and guided research, in preparation for a 2.5 hour virtual classroom session.
A range of subjects are covered including:
- What is First Aid for Mental Health?
- Identifying mental health conditions
- Providing advice and starting a conversation
After passing, you’ll receive your certificate which is valid for 3 years.
When your 3 years is up, you will need to retake this 2 day refresher course if you wish to continue practicing.

First Aid is a highly practical subject which means you will be performing numerous practical activities during the 3 days (practicing techniques including CPR, the Recovery Position, etc).
Your tutor will assess your capablity on each technique during these practical exercises.
At the end of the course there is a multiple-choice question exam paper to complete to demonstrate theoretical knowledge.
You must pass both the practical assessment and the question paper to achieve qualification.
