The course covers fire hazards, risk assessment, control of fire in the workplace and duties of both employers and employees.
Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 2 Fire Safety qualification, providing an ideal platform to higher level training or career development
Course Duration
The Level 2 Fire Safety Course is a full day course in the classroom. The qualification requires 6 hours tutor contact time with the learners.
Fire Safety Course Syllabus
This course is aimed at supervisor, manager, fire marshall, or fire warden level. Candidates will learn a variety of fire safety topics. These include key legislation, how to prevent fires. There practical we will also include hands-on fire extinguisher practice.
The course content includes:
- Possible causes of fire in the workplace, and the most common causes in the UK
- Fire hazards in the workplace – generic and specific
- Fire safety risk: managing, controlling and identifying risks
- Duties and responsibilities of employers and employees – Legislation
- In the event of a fire – actions to take
- Safe operating procedures for portable firefighting equipment
- Fire equipment checks
- Hands-on fire extinguisher practice session
Assessment and Certification
Candidates will receive practical exercises and a course booklet to assist them throughout the course. At the end of the course, candidates will undertake a written examination to test their understanding.
Successful candidates will receive their an accredited certification shortly after attending. For more information about the certification, please see the Qualification Specification.
This qualification is valid for life, however we recommend that candidates retake this course at least every 3 years. This will help to refresh their understanding & is a chance to receive the latest legislation updates.
Who needs Fire Safety training?
This course is ideally suited to those managing fire safety within a working environment. Therefore, fire marshal training is aimed at managers, supervisors, team leaders and fire marshals/fire wardens.
The course assumes no prior knowledge which therefore means those looking to begin their journey into managing fire safety can still attend.
